Our Canadian-grown cut hydrangeas start flowering in early June.
By adjusting the pH of the soil we can control the colour of the flower, bringing out either shades of pink or blue. As the season progresses, these flowers turn into gorgeous shades of green.
The hydrangeas continue their transformation in early autumn to beautiful fall reds. After all the flowers have been harvested, the plants go through a stage of dormancy during the winter to be ready to grow again in the spring.
We grow special varieties of hydrangeas developed specifically for the cut flower market. We grow them hydroponically so we can ensure proper watering schedules to keep the plants alive during our sweltering summers. Sometimes that means watering up to 10 times a day!
