VanZanten freesias are prized for their beautiful looks and fragrance.
Freesias were first discovered in the early 1800s in South Africa. The majority of freesias grown today are produced in Holland.
Our Canadian-grown freesias are known for their fragrance, which is most pronounced in the red and yellow varieties. They come in many different colours as well as in single or double flower varieties.
Freesias are a “cool” crop and need cooler soil temperatures in order to produce flowers. This is achieved by using chillers and cold water piped throughout the whole greenhouse to moderate ground temperatures. By this method and with careful cultivation, we ensure a continual supply of fresh freesias to our North American clientele.
